Megaupload and Megaretaliation

We haven’t heard much from Anonymous lately except that bit about taking the PSN down again over support fro SOPA… that is until the take down of Megaupload seriously pissed them off, and now a retaliatory take down of DoJ.gov has left it dead. At this time “DownForEveryoneOrJustMe.com” has reported that the DoJ’s site has been essentially nuked from orbit, and an Anonymous-affiliated Tweet is claiming responsibility. This is probably the result of a well orginised DDoS attack—and without a doubt the most brazen we’ve seen since ZeroCool crashed 1507 systems in one day. If you ever doubted that Anonymous is still a force of internet nature, rest your doubts now.

Anonymous also claims to have knocked off the RIAA’s site, Universal Music Group, and MPAA.org.

Credit for reference goes to Gizmodo, Washington  Post and AP’s Twitter.

EDIT : 3:12 PST  : The DoJ website is back up now.
